The State of Indiana has created a care management program, Care Select, to serve the population of the aged (excluding
the dual eligible members), blind, physically and mentally disabled, members who get room and board assistance,
ward and foster children, members on MEDWorks, children receiving adoptive services, and members receiving select non-disabled
home and community based services (HCBS).
The Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP) contracts with Care Management Organizations (CMOs) for the
responsibilities of performing the care management, authorization, and manage utilization of physical, behavioral,
and transportation of it membership. The care of Care Select members enrolled in the CMO is managed by the CMO
through its network of PMPs, specialists, and other providers of care who contracted on behalf of the State
by the CMO.
Care Select members are linked to a Care Select-enrolled PMP, who provides and arranges for most of the members'
medical care. Services are reimbursed on a fee-for-service basis and the PMP receives a monthly administration fee
for each member actively assigned to the PMP. Physicians of any specialty can apply through one or all of the Care
Management Organizations (CMOs) to serve as a primary medical provider for Care Select members by completing
an addendum to their IHCP enrollment agreement. The State's contracted CMOs are ADVANTAGE Health Solutions, Inc.SM and MDwise.
The Care Select Bulletin BT200723 provides a complete overview of the program and a list of Care Select program inclusions
and exclusions.
