2007 MCO Procurement Frequently Asked Member Questions

Q:  How can I receive information about the Hoosier Healthwise health plans?
A:  Effective January 1, 2007, the Hoosier Healthwise program will offer three statewide health plans, Anthem, Managed Health Services (MHS), and MDwise. You can receive a Health Plan Summary for your county by calling the toll-free Hoosier Healthwise Helpline at 1-800-889-9949, or by speaking with a local Benefit Advocate. The Health Plan Summary will provide information about their doctors, hospitals, transportation services, pharmacies (drug stores), and other available services.

Q:  Will I be notified if my primary medical provider (PMP) changes to a different health plan?
A: Yes. The Hoosier Healthwise program will send you a letter with your doctor’s name, address, and health plan name. Later, you will receive a new member handbook and other materials from your new health plan.

Q:  What if my doctor decides not to participate in Hoosier Healthwise in 2007 and I need a new doctor, how can I obtain a list of PMPs in my area?
A:  If you wish to stay in the same health plan, call your health plan’s Member Services telephone number. You can also get a PMP list by calling the toll-free Hoosier Healthwise Helpline at 1-800-889-9949, visiting the Hoosier Healthwise Web site at http://www.healthcareforhoosiers.com, or by speaking with a local Benefit Advocate.

Q:  Is transportation available?
A:  The health plans can arrange transportation services through a toll-free telephone number, but they do ask you to call ahead to make an appointment. Your health plan’s Member Handbook will explain how far in advance you need to call and will how transportation services work.

Q:  Can I go to the same pharmacies?
A:  Each Hoosier Healthwise health plan, or managed care organization (MCO), contracts different networks of pharmacies. You can receive a Health Plan Summary (which includes a list of pharmacies for each plan) for your county by calling the toll-free Hoosier Healthwise Helpline at 1-800-889-9949, or by speaking with your Benefit Advocate.
Q:  Will my PMP continue to be available 24 hours, seven days a week?
